looking for tips!
just bought my first pyrography kit with interchangable heads and variable heat and am looking for some general advice on techniques, what wood is best and any advice people feel would benefit me as a beginner would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

I'm trying to do long even lines on poplar (tulipwood). I first was using the tip supplied with my Peter Child machine but it wouldn't work, it always dug in and make dots and marks. I burn a lot of text on canes and signs. I print out the pattern for what I want from the computer, tape it in position on the wood and proceed to burn through the paper. I have found this to be the best way to get an accurate transfer of the pattern to the burn. The large fonts are no problem, but...
